Testimonials

My 3 fishing buddies and I have travelled to Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge in Ear Falls, Ontario from Central Ohio for the last ten years.  We thoroughly enjoy the entire “fly-in” experience and the fishing is always great!  We have fished most of the outpost lakes that they offer, of course we have our favorites.  Doug and Gayle go out of their way to provide a quality, efficient operation.  The fishing is so good you don’t have to exaggerate when you get back home!  I highly recommend Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge.

I have been travelling to Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge & Outposts for the past three years and am planning a fourth trip this summer.  The Northern Pike and especially the Walleye fishing is fantastic, with large numbers of each being caught each day.  I thoroughly enjoy being the only cabin on the lake, as we’re confident knowing that the lake isn’t getting “hammered” by throngs of fishermen each season, and the promotion of catch-and-release by the Gawley’s has made this into a pristine fishing experience.  The equipment functions well, the cabin is quite comfortable, and the scenery makes for a wonderful outpost experience.  The highlight of my summer is our week on Kapikik Lake!  Ernst, Rick and I talk about our Kapikik trips regularly.  We are looking forward to June 3rd.

For the past 11 years we have been to Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge & Outposts 10 times, utilizing 4 different outposts.  The boats and cabins are well maintained and we’ve had many great fishing experiences.  We have always been well accommodated by Doug and Gayle.

Thank you Doug, Gayle and staff for making our Canadian fishing trips “experiences of a lifetime”!

Our trip of a lifetime has turned into return visits to Gawley’s Little Beaver.  Their level of professionalism and customer service is second to none.  The accommodations are always outstanding (clean, comfortable and well maintained) and the fishing is FANTASTIC (boats and motors well maintained).  Every trip to Gawley’s exceeded our expectations…did we say fishing is FANTASTIC!!  We recommend Gawley’s to all our friends and acquaintances.  There is no reason to consider any other outfitter.  We thank our friend Butch who tipped us off about this paradise in Canada.  We are hooked for life!!!!

I have been fishing in Canada on a very consistent basis for the last twenty years.  The last five years I feel that I have struck “Fishing-Gold” at Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge and Outposts.  My first year was a single trip and these last four years I have booked two trips a season for my fishing groups.  Doug and Gayle have treated my groups very well as they always exceeded my expectations.  I am a walleye fisherman and easily have caught 50 to 75 walleye per person a day with my biggest being a very nice 29+ incher.  I wish those nasty, strong fighting northern pike would stay off my line as I have caught by accident a 40+ incher.  The facilities are clean and comfortable with indoor hot showers and refrigerators.  The fish cleaning house is excellent and the boats and motors are well maintained.

Pusher Lake – our party fished this lake in 2005 or 2006.  We found “walleye heaven” right in front of the cabin, catching several hundred with many of them being 20” – 23”.  There is a bar that extends several football fields long.  In the bays across the lake we caught plenty of northern pike, our biggest being 36” & 37”.  Today I have to think those walleye and northern pike are even bigger.

Antenna Lakeis my favorite lake.  There are good northern pike bays, plenty of deep water and lots of good sized walleye that make this lake a “real gem”! This lake provides plenty of action for walleye and northern pike [or should I say BIG NORTHERN PIKE!!!].  There are some monsters in this lake.  We have caught 42” and 43” northerns with big girths but know there are some in this lake pushing the upper 40’s.  I can’t help but wonder what the population density of big pike is per acre for this lake.  It is my mission to get back to this lake.

McVicar Lake – we will be making our 3rd consecutive trip this summer and I don’t know if it is possible to surpass or duplicate the success we had last year.  Our
1st trip was good but we spent a lot of time exploring and learning the lake and we still have a lot to learn as this is a BIG LAKE. Last summer [2010] our party of four caught 1300 fish [80 – 85% walleye ranging from 16” – 26”].  Our rule was that the fish had to be in the boat to count and no landing nets were used.  We probably had another 200+ get off by the boat.  Try the eastern side of the lake around the four largest islands.  We keep thinking we will fish Lang and Sor Lakes but haven’t made the portages yet.

For accommodations you will enjoy the spacious cabins.  The boats and motors work fine, there is plenty of gas and the fish cleaning houses are very good.  The hosts are wonderful and when they say be ready at a certain time they really mean it!!! Just for the record, our boat caught 176 fish in one day [two of us and remember we don’t use landing nets].

I have been fishing with Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge and Outpost Outfitters for ten years now.  Although Doug and Gayle operate many camps, we return each year to Shabumeni Lake Outpost for the pure numbers of walleye.  We literally count each fish caught all week long.  If you want to catch OVER 3500 walleye each week then this is the place to be.  Not only do we catch the walleye, but we also have numerous encounters with trophy northern pike.  The camps are always clean, the boats are always running and the total experience cannot fully be understood unless you experience it for yourself.

I have been fishing Canada for my whole life.  I have portaged and flown into many lakes that had never been fished.  I have truly been blessed and have seen the best.  Since I started fishing with Gawley’s, the fishing has been incredible and hassle free.  I have fished many of their camps and to date I have caught and released 5 northern over 30 lbs and my wife has caught 2 over 30 lbs, with the longest at 54.5”.  (We have pictures of all).  We have caught and released all the walleye you would ever want.  The service that we have received has been absolutely class A.  Every accommodation has been met with all the amenities in a wonderful cabin and beautiful surroundings.  We truly have a lifetime of memories…  Thanks Doug and Gayle for all you have done for us over the years!

I have vacationed on Antenna Lake four times and McVicar Lake once.  The fly-in to our cabin was enjoyable with a dependable airplane and an excellent pilot.  The cabin included:  hot and cold running water, shower, propane stove and refrigerators. A fish cleaning house is located outside.  The fishing was excellent with most walleye in the 16” – 22” range; larger walleye up to 25” were also caught.  Numerous northern pike were caught in the 26” – 36” range. During each of our trips on Antenna we usually caught several northern pike in the 40” – 43” range.  During these trips we have seen bear, moose and wolves.  Doug and Gayle do an excellent job of providing an enjoyable trip.

Our group started going up to Gawley’s Little Beaver Lodge 23 years ago and we haven’t missed a year since.  The reason why we keep going back is the great fishing on Lac Seul and the accommodations at the Main Camp.  We all bring our own boats and Gawley’s have made it easy to keep you on the water.  Gas and electricity on the dock is very convenient.  The cabins are always clean, comfortable and functional for our large group.  We will have 18 guys in 6 boats in our group this year.  We know we can count on Doug to be there when we need something.  Doug and Gayle will treat you like family.

My group and I have been fishing with Doug & Gayle for many years.  We love Antenna Lake because if there is any place in Canada where you can expect to catch northern pike in excess of 40 inches this is it.  Fishing here we have always caught northern over 40 inches every year with our first trip scoring 7 fish between 42 and 47 inches.  On that trip our group of 4 caught and released over 240 pike in excess of 30 inches.

Our largest one to date was a beauty, 49.5 inches and 34.5 pounds.  We have had several on which would exceed 50 inches.  These are a precious resource and Doug stresses catch and release which has proved itself over the years with more and larger fish being present in the lakes.

One day a friend and I were fishing a deep shoreline just south of the cabin when he hooked a small pike of around 24 inches.  As he was bringing it to the boat a pike over 45 to 50 inches T-boned the smaller one and was going to make it his dinner.  Needless to say the small pike was having a really bad day!  Playing the two fish, we tried to land them both but the big one finally let go and went back to the deep.

Equipment is great and you are the only party of the lakes.
